Minibar Systems has introduced SmartCube™, said to be the world's first completely modular minibar.
Designed to give hoteliers maximum flexibility in all areas of its operation, the new minibar has the capability of upgrading from manual, to semi-automated, to fully automated without interrupting the daily routine.
Operators will be able to order SmartCube in any cooling technology - absorption, peltier or compressor - and can also choose the communication system, be it Ethernet, coaxial/MATV or twisted pair.
Whatever the choice, the result is a customised, metallic finished unit, available in both 40 and 60 litre sizes, built-in or freestanding and with a range of door panel options.
The design is complemented by a lighting package which uses blue and white crystel LEDs, these not only illuminating the interior of the bar but also enhancing the exterior presention and indicating when the door has been opened.
The fully automated version of SmartCube uses infrared technology, sales being posted to the guests' account in real-time. Automatic locking and unlocking of the minibar's electronic lock is controlled by the hotel's PMS system. All electronic modules are plug and play, located in a service tray.
The sensor technology used in SmartCube can also be used to present products outside the minibar by using SmartTray, a tray with up to 12 sensors.
